Create your own weighted lap pillow
Make your weighted lap pillow your own with a combination that suits your style and sensory preferences. Choose your preferred colour combination from the available options and select your weight to create your own version, individually made to order especially for you.
A cotton top and soft, plush minky underside offer two different textures to explore, while the glass-granule filling provides localised pressure. Keep it close for reading, table activities or quiet moments at home, or use it in a classroom, sensory room or occupational therapy setting.
Your combination, made for you
You do not have to settle for a ready-made combination. Create a version that feels personal by combining your preferred available colours with the weight you choose. If you are buying for a group, choosing different weights and colour combinations can help provide a range of options for different users.

A sensory companion for everyday activities
A weighted lap pillow can be used as a sensory tool during activities that call for sitting and focusing, including reading, table exercises and therapy sessions. It can also be used during feeding, doctor appointments, car journeys or playtime. The plush texture and weighted feel offer a way to explore localised pressure before considering a larger weighted item such as a blanket.
Responses to weighted sensory tools vary. Rather than promising relief from anxiety, restless legs or sensory dysregulation, choose how and when to use the pillow around the individual user's comfort and needs.
What weight should I choose?
There is no single academically established weight that is suitable for everyone. Our existing general guideline is a weight up to 10% of body weight, as with a weighted blanket, but this is not an individual recommendation. Ask an occupational therapist or another qualified professional for advice on a suitable weight and use, particularly for a child.
Weighted lap pillows are generally used for shorter periods. The user should be able to remove the pillow and communicate when they want to stop using it.
Fabric details and feel
The cotton has a weight of 260 gsm. It is sturdy and becomes softer with use. The high-grade minky plush is soft and pleasant to touch.
